In Abruzzo un viaggio nelle sculture della natura: le Grotte di Pietrasecca

Carsoli (L’Aquila) – La riserva Naturale “Grotte di Pietrasecca” nel Comune di Carsoli, è un luogo dove la natura afferma i suoi misteri e le sue sculture naturali scolpite nelle cavità della terra. L’escursione in grotta è un viaggio senza tempo, dove ogni angolo delle beltà incontrano la storia, lo studio geologico, il fascino dell’incontaminato assoluto.

Ma oltre alle cavità ipogee vi sono tre importanti geositi, che nell’ambito delle specifiche attività di educazione ambientale sono visitabili con docenti d’eccezione geologi ricercatori, e guide specializzate.

I SENTIERI DELLA RISERVA

I sentieri della riserva sono percorribili liberamente,  e presso il Centro di accoglienza della Riserva è disponibile la carta dei sentieri per guidare i visitatori, anche in questo caso in un percorso a dir poco entusiasmante.

 

 

 

LA GROTTA DEL CERVO

Scoperta nel 1984 , ha subito animato entusiasmi e curiosità per la sua straordinaria bellezza. L’ingresso piuttosto ristretto , immette in un ampia galleria lunga circa 400 metri,caratterizzata dalla presenza di straordinarie concrezioni candide di varia forma e struttura.
Deve la sua importanza al ritrovamento al suo interno delle ossa di un cervo di notevole interesse paleontologico e di monete romande del IV-V sec. d.c.
Forse per alluvioni o in occasione di un terremoto nel 1456 l’apertura si ostruì tornando alla luce solo nel 1984 In questa grotta vengono attualmente condotti studi sulla paleo sismicità da parte dell’Università degli studi Dell’Aquila.

LA GROTTA DELL’OVITO

Inghiottitoio naturale che raccoglie le Acque del bacino omonimo per restituirle dopo 1300 metri nella così detta Risorgenza Di Vena Cionca a Pietrasecca.
L’ingresso, dal caratteristico ampio e doppio portale,immette in una larga galleria, lunga 271 mt e alta sino a 15 – 20 mt.
Il tracciato è caratterizzato da una suggestiva serie di stretti e piccoli laghi , separati da brevi rapide e da alcune diramazioni che introducono in ambienti densamente concrezionati
Subito dopo ha inizio l’affascinante canyon con una successione di rapide, laghetti e cascate. Dopo un salto d’acqua di 8 metri si giunge sul vasto lago sottostante, caratterizzato da una splendida cascata , alimentata dalle acque del torrente sotterraneo.

Dal 6 Agosto 2021 l’accesso in grotta è sottoposto a verifica di GreenPass in osservanza al decreto legge  di cui al n. 175 del 23 luglio 2021, ed ogni informazione  e prenotazione  visita può essere richiesta al seguente numero:

Come raggiungere la Riserva:

Uscita A24 Carsoli Oricola, e dopo aver percorso il  centro urbano o la Variante Tiburtina proseguire sulla stessa in direzione di Tagliacozzo, ed in cinque minuti si troverà il bivio per Pietrasecca. Quindi entrare nel borgo e percorrere la strada interna fino ad arrivare alla Riserva Naturale.

 

in alternativa è anche possibile uscire ma solo in provenienza da Roma al  casello di Tagliacozzo poi tornare indietro in direzione  Carsoli-Pietrasecca.

Carsoli (L’Aquila) – The Natural Reserve “Grotte di Pietrasecca” in the Municipality of Carsoli, is a place where nature affirms its mysteries and its natural sculptures carved into the cavities of the earth. The cave excursion is a timeless journey, where every corner of beauty meets history, geological study, the charm of the absolute uncontaminated.

But in addition to the underground cavities, there are three important geosites, which, in the context of specific environmental education activities, can be visited with exceptional teachers, geologists, researchers, and specialized guides.

THE PATHS OF THE RESERVE

The paths of the reserve are freely accessible, and the map of the paths is available at the Reception Center of the Reserve to guide visitors, also in this case in a path that is nothing short of exciting.

THE CAVE OF THE DEER

Discovered in 1984, it immediately animated enthusiasm and curiosity for its extraordinary beauty. The rather narrow entrance leads into a large tunnel about 400 meters long, characterized by the presence of extraordinary white concretions of various shapes and structures.
It owes its importance to the discovery within it of the bones of a deer of considerable paleontological interest and of French coins of the IV-V century. A.D.
Perhaps due to floods or an earthquake in 1456, the opening was blocked, returning to light only in 1984. Studies on paleo-seismicity are currently being conducted in this cave by the University of Dell’Aquila.

THE CAVE OF OVITO

Natural sinkhole that collects the waters of the basin of the same name to return them after 1300 meters in the so-called Risorgenza Di Vena Cionca in Pietrasecca.
The entrance, with its characteristic wide and double portal, leads into a large tunnel, 271 meters long and up to 15-20 meters high.
The route is characterized by a suggestive series of narrow and small lakes, separated by short rapids and by some branches that lead into densely concreted environments
Immediately after, the fascinating canyon begins with a succession of rapids, lakes and waterfalls. After an 8-meter drop of water, you reach the vast lake below, characterized by a splendid waterfall, fed by the waters of the underground stream.

From 6 August 2021, access to the cave is subject to GreenPass verification in compliance with the law decree referred to in n. 175 of 23 July 2021, and any information and booking of visits can be requested at the following number:

How to reach the Reserve:

A24 Carsoli Oricola exit, and after traveling through the city center or the Tiburtina Variante continue on the same in the direction of Tagliacozzo, and in five minutes you will find the junction for Pietrasecca. Then enter the village and take the internal road until you reach the Nature Reserve

alternatively it is also possible to exit but only coming from Rome at the Tagliacozzo tollbooth then go back towards Carsoli-Pietrasecca.
